Decorative concrete resurfacing project that has been acid stained in Frisco, TX.
Decorative concrete floors by ESR Concrete Staining save the day for this home in Frisco, TX! The home owner and I met and discussed her interest in acid stained decorative concrete floors. She wanted a durable floor that would hold up to her children and her very playful 2 yr old pet Lab. Our concrete floors are very durable and friendly for all pets and children! Decorative concrete floors are very easy to maintain and will last a home owner for years to come with little to no maintenance expenses! The home owner was very excited about the concrete floors design concept for her home. A few days after receiving our quote for her floors disaster struck when a water line burst in her home ruining the existing carpet in her home! We received a frantic call to come in and start work as soon as possible! We arrived and quickly began work on her floors. The home owner disposed of the carpet before we arrived so we began removing tack strips and patching the holes left behind from them. We then removed laminate flooring from the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room areas. We then set out to remove a small tile area in the front entry way.
With three different types of flooring in the home (carpet, laminate, and tile) the best decorative concrete flooring option for this home remodel was a micro finish flooring system. A micro finish decorative concrete floor is a specially formulated thin layer of concrete (about the thickness of a credit card) that is professionally installed over an existing concrete surface. The main benefit of this flooring system is that is covers any imperfections in your existing concrete that would create an undesirable look for your concrete floor. This imperfections include patched concrete areas, glue swirls, tile “ghosting”, framing chalk lines, areas where a wall had been previously, and any other imperfections created when the home was originally being built. The concrete in the micro finish flooring system is mixed with key materials that accept acid stain the best and create a beautiful flow of color. These floors are extremely tough and will last for years!
A large tile design was engraved into the kitchen area. To do this we cut a border around the perimeter of the kitchen area and the laid out a large tile design on the micro finish floor. We then used a specialized tool designed for engraving concrete to hand cut the tile line design into the concrete. Decorative concrete can be used to create any type of flooring design. We can create a floor that resembles any type of stone, pattern, or design!
The home owner went with the acid stain color antique brown. Antique brown offers beautiful highs and lows of brown with a small hint of red in it. This color often resembles the look of worn leather and cola. Antique brown is the most popular color among our customers and it looks great! The floor was sealed with a durable solvent based sealer that provides a high gloss finish. The floor was then waxed with a high solid content wax that will serve as a durable maintenance layer that will help keep this floor looking new for years!
